A Digital Forensics Company
...continued from case studies
There are problems associated with both options currently used above. The first, travelling your staff to the site of an incident, is both costly and slow, especially if the incident is a long distance away. Speedy response may be very important and the quickest you can reach the site may be 24 hours after the occurrence has been notified.
The second option, shipping the evidence back to the lab using a point- to- point courier can also suffer from time delays especially f the courier has to fly at some point in the shipping schedule. Using a courier can mean even more delays if you need to wait for a trusted partner to carry the evidence.
The price of travelling to site and shipping back can involve considerable costs, as usually the travel is arranged at the last minute so one cannot take advantage of cheaper flights.
Cost savingsCalculating the cost savings for this organisation was only part of the benefits of implementing the Remote Forensics solution. The other major benefit for them was the additional quantity of work that could be processed.
The savings below were calculated on 5 PODs in local locations with 6 incidents per annum, 5 in medium distant locations and 12 incidents per annum and 5 PODs in long haul locations having six incidents per annum.
