What does the software consist of?

Remote Forensics comprises both hardware and software. At the heart of the system is a comprehensive Case management service called the Forensic Incident Management Service or FIMS.

The platform on which FIMS runs can be supplied as a “hosted” environment by Evidence Talks, in much the same way as a web server may be hosted by an ISP, or as software only delivered to your own hosting facility

FIMS

FIMS is a web application that lies at the heart of the Remote Forensics solution and acts as a bridge between the case manager, the forensic analyst and the POD. It is a comprehensive forensic case management tool.

It brokers connections, controls accesses, records actions and provides reporting. FIMS consists of both hardware and software, supplied and configured by Evidence Talks.

FIMS is supplied either as a ‘hosted’ service by Evidence Talks – which is available to the client securely via the internet – or as an ‘in-house’ solution, with the hardware and software configured by Evidence Talks prior to delivery.

It can be placed on an intranet or the internet and can have additional encryption applied using third party approved technologies.

Although totally secure, we recognise the requirement of some clients for enhanced network encryption capabilities which we can provide using technologies with formal approval from the UK Government CESG Assisted Products Scheme at Enhanced Grade, a security rating for the protection of classified information recognized across Europe.

Installation & configuration of specialist software

PODS can be configured to use any of your favourite forensic, e-discovery or data recovery tools. However, standard PODS are configured to use Encase(r) from Guidance Software with licensing managed by a Network Authentication Server (NAS)Note that Encase licences are not supplied as standard.

On request, client supplied software such as P2 Commander from Paraben, FTK or PRTK from AccessData or X-Ways can be installed on each POD during the build and configuration process.
